Kumasi, May 7, GNA - The Ghana Police Service (GPS) is working hard to expand its facilities throughout the country to enable personnel provide adequate security to life and property.
Commissioner of Police Mr. Yaw Adu-Gyimah, Director-General in charge of Services, said new divisions, districts and stations were being created across the country and that existing ones were also under consideration of being expanded to accommodate the growing population. He was cutting the sod for work to start on a modern facility to house the Divisional Police Headquarters in the Asante-Akim North District of the Ashanti Region at Agogo. Mr Adu-Gyimah also cut the sod for work to start on new barracks for the division at Agogo.
The projects, which are being financed by government, are aimed at improving upon police accommodation in the district. He commended government for its commitment to provide peaceful and conducive environment for national development by equipping the police with logistics and stressed the need for police personnel to uphold the code of ethics of the service. He appealed to the citizenry to respect the police and be ready to assist them with information that would lead to the arrest of criminals. 07 May 08
