The Ghana Police Service has launched a manhunt following a brazen armed robbery that occurred in broad daylight at Adabraka, a suburb of Accra, on Saturday, November 2, 2024.

This shocking incident has left the community in fear, prompting urgent police action to apprehend the culprits.

In a statement issued on November 2, the police confirmed that the incident involved a group of armed men who targeted a jewellery shop, injuring at least one person during their attack.

The police have vowed to bring the robbers to justice.

“The Police are on a manhunt for a gang of armed robbers who attacked a jewellery shop at Adabraka in Accra on Saturday 2nd November 2024 where one person was injured,” part of the statement reads. It concluded, “We would like to assure the public that we will surely get them and bring them to face justice.”

About the attack:

GhanaWeb earlier reported that a group of armed men, believed to be robbers, stormed the Adabraka area on Saturday. Viral videos of the incident show at least five well-built men brandishing various firearms.

The footage captures the men firing shots into the air as they loaded the items, including bags of money, into a silver vehicle. Witnesses reported that the robbers ordered a bystander, who had raised his hands in surrender, to comply with their demands.

At one point, the suspects scattered some of the money they had seized while continuing to fire warning shots. After loading the stolen goods into the vehicle, they sped away, firing additional shots into the air.

Tragically, at least one person was hit by the gunfire from the suspected robbers. Another video from the scene shows residents rushing the injured man to the hospital.
