Police looking for seven persons who lynched an assailant

Abuakwa (Ash), June 2, GNA - The police in Abuakwa in Ashanti have mounted a massive hunt for seven persons who allegedly lynched an assailant at Moseaso and burnt his body on May 18, this year.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency on the incident at Abuakwa on Monday, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Emmanuel Akonor, who is in charge of the Abuakwa District said, at about 11.30 am on that day, Kwaku Gyebi, who hails from Moseaso solicited the services of seven others to help him harvest his cocoa.

He said while working, an unknown assailant suddenly emerged from the forest and attacked Gyebi inflicting cutlass wounds on him. ASDP Akonor said, the seven persons, however, managed to over power the assailant, beat him to death and set his body ablaze. He said the police were later informed and when they rushed to the scene, they found the charred remains of the assailant.
