Police may question Ayariga over mob siege of Citi FM

The Police in Accra say they may invite the Presidential candidate of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Hassan Ayariga, for questioning following a formal complaint by Lawyer Egbert Faibille Jnr over alleged threats on his life.

Egbert Faibille told Joy News he was compelled to report Saturday’s incident to the Adabraka Police despite the fact that he has other legal options to available to him in respect of the incident. Mr. Faibille however did not disclose those options saying he would only resort to them should the police inquiry yield unsatisfactory results.

According to Accra Regional Police PRO, DSP Freeman Tetteh, they have opened investigations into the incident, hinting that PNC’s Hassan Ayariga and other key players in the incident would be invited for questioning.

He also revealed that the management of Citi FM also lodged a complaint at the Adabraka Police Station following the mob siege.

Supporters of the PNC stormed Citi FM last Saturday ostensibly to attack Lawyer Faibille for his unpleasant comments against the PNC candidate.

The mob siege followed comments by Hassan Ayariga who called into the station to demand a retraction of Lawyer Faibille’s comments describing him as a sidekick of the ruling party.

The timely intervention of the Adabraka Police and a reinforcement team from Accra Central police saved the lawyer who was held hostage for several hours after the programme.
