Police mole in NDC exposed

There is a police mole operating as an NDC activist who has been feeding the security with fabricated stories, reports the Insight newspaper.

According to the paper the mole is simply named as ?Robert? in a police headquarters letter referenced SO/G.5/1A/V.6/151 and signed for the chief of staff officer to the IGP by DSP Alhaji B. S Adamu.

The letter dated July 29 2005, read in part,? I am directed by the Inspector General of Police to refer the attached to you and to ask you to intensify security in these areas and other important places within your area of jurisdiction,?

The letter, which was distributed to all Regional, Divisional, District and Unit Commanders of the Police Service, appears to have been triggered by a fabrication, which had been fed to the police administration.

? A usually reliable source (Robert) reveals that the NDC has plans to set the Bank of Ghana Head office in Accra on fire as well as certain big markets in Accra and in some regions.?

Source believe that the NDC will soon put into action the proposed plans and therefore it is recommended that the Bank of Ghana and major markets in Accra and in the region be guarded to thwart the intended action.

National organiser of the NDC, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo described the report allegedly filed by Robert as a complete fabrication.

? We are a very responsible political party, we derive our existence from the laws of the land and we will never subvert the Constitution and the law,? he said.

The true identity of Robert is still unknown but sources within the NDC say they have enough clues to track him down.

An NDC security source said Robert?s identity would be established before the weekend.

Some NDC Leaders are insisting that all the moles whose names have been compiled be publicly exposed and dismissed.

It will be recalled that in the 2003 security moles in the NDC fabricated a story about a coup plot involving Lt Col Gbevlo Lartey former Commander of the 64 Infantry regiment.

This led to the arrest of the Gbevlo- Lartey and others and the embarrassment of the Kufuor administration.
