The Ejisu police have mounted a search to arrest a confident-trickster, operating in the area and said to have swindled a businessman and a pastor of their cash totalling GHC70,000.00.
Police Chief Superintendent Laar Baman, Divisional Commander, said the service would do everything to apprehend and bring him to justice.
He has, however, cautioned the people to be smart to prevent falling for the trap of criminals.
He told a media briefing that the unidentified man first presented himself to a businessman who deals in lubricants at Techiman in Brong Ahafo, as the owner of a Free Zone Company and could sell to him a 40-feet container full of fuel products.
Osman Nuhu unsuspectingly expressed interest in the deal, travelled to Ejisu to inspect the said container on June 26, after which he paid to him GHC50,000.00 for the goods.
Chief Supt. Baman said the businessman later sent a KIA truck to off-load the products only to discover to his shock that the container was full of empty barrels.
Separately, the swindler, posted the picture of Mitsubishi Pajero vehicle on “Tonaton” - an on-line shopping website with a price tag of GHC60,000.00.
This caught the attention of one Pastor Francis of Assin-Fosu and he was baited to move all the way to the Gyakye-Junction, where the vehicle was parked and deposited GHC20,000.00.
He went to collect documents covering the vehicle, when he learnt that the man was after all not the owner of the vehicle.
The Police Divisional Commander said all efforts to reach him on cellular phone numbers has been unsuccessful.
The man’s picture secretly captured on phone by a relative of Nuhu, who all along suspected he was not genuine, is being used track him down.
