As the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) gears up for its extraordinary conference in Kumasi, security heads in the Ashanti Region have assured delegates and the people of adequate protection.

The Ghana police service has disclosed that adequate numbers are on standby to be deployed to various locations of the city ahead of the event which comes off on Sunday December 17, 2017

Contrary to reports that heavily built men (Macho men) working for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) are planning to cause confusion at the conference ground, mynewsgh.com’s Kwabena Danso-Dapaah reporting from the region says “the Ghana Police Service has indicated its preparedness to deal mercilessly with trouble makers”.

The Regional Police Command has revealed it is ready to ensure the safety of delegates before, during and after the conference and will ensure a peaceful process.

“Police is ready for any eventuality… anyone or group of persons who decide to go contrary to the law will meet our match”, regional commander, COP Ken Yeboah warned.

He added enough personnel are currently on the ground monitoring proceedings as the D-day draws near.

The extraordinary delegates’ conference comes Sunday, December 17, 2017 in Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional Capital.

The conference is in pursuance to Article 9(A)(5) of the NPP constitution according to the Acting General Secretary of the party John Boadu.

“The agenda for the conference is to deliberate, consider and adopt a draft constitutional amendment for the party”, he explains.
