Accra, March 15, GNA - The Police Administration has said it had put in adequate security measures to ensure that all eligible voters register during the forthcoming registration exercise without hindrance. It warned that anyone, who would prevent any person from registering, would be dealt with in accordance with the law.
"Anyone who wants to challenge any person from registering should resort to the due process as prescribed by the electoral laws and regulations," it suggested.
This was contained in a statement issued by Inspector A. K. Arthur, of the Public Relations Department, Police Headquarters, Accra. The statement said, the Police would monitor the electioneering process, from the registration exercise through the campaigning and voting periods to the declaration of the results, adding, "the Police would exercise the highest degree of neutrality, non-partisan, transparency and credibility to ensure that peace and order prevails before, during and after the electoral exercise."
It reminded all political parties to adhere strictly to the provisions of the Public Order Act anytime they wished to hold political rally.
The statement entreated the Media to exhibit high professional standard in their reportage during the period.
It sensitive matters should be handled with decorum and circumspection.
