Accra, Nov. 30, GNA - The Greater Accra Regional Police Command would with immediate effect undertake an exercise to clear all hawkers who have displayed their wares on the main streets of the Accra Central Business Centre.
A statement signed by the Accra Regional Police Commander, ACP Akrofi Asiedu noted that some hawkers had taken over the streets where they had displayed their wares.
"Indeed, their activities pose danger to both pedestrians and vehicular movements. The confusion is so serious that the police will not allow hawkers to trade on the main streets."
The police warned hawkers to keep off the streets saying those who disobeyed this directive would be arrested and prosecuted.
