The Eastern Regional Police Ladies Association (POLAS) has marked its 25th anniversary with a six-kilometer health walk through the main streets of Koforidua.
The anniversary was celebrated under the theme “Enlightening our past, enriching our present and enriching the future of the Ghana Police Service.’’
The Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mrs Eunice Annor of the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit said the celebration was to encourage police women to work hard to lift up the image of the Ghana Police Service.
She said it was also a way of showing appreciation to the first batch of 12 women who were enlisted into the Service.
DSP Annor appealed to other women to study hard to acquire the required qualification to join the Police Service.
As part of the celebrations a new kitchen block for the Police Basic School at Galloway that was built with the support of POLAS was inaugurated.
There was also a gala football match between POLAS and other sister security services.
The celebration was rounded off with a breast cancer screening exercise and a thanksgiving church service.
