Two persons have been confirmed dead including Corporal Nathaniel Afriyie Marfo who was on his way Nkawkaw to Donkorkrom for special duties after the vehicle he was travelling in got involved a fatal accident between Kwahu Tafo and Adawso in the Eastern Region.
Another Corporal Frederick Addai who was also on board the vehicle suffered severe injuries and currently at the Police Hospital in Accra receiving treatment.
Police investigators disclosed to mynewsgh.com that at about 9:45am on Monday, GCB Bank Limited Nissan pick-Up vehicle, with registration number GN 8556-15 was driven by Paul Koranteng, 43 years together with three other persons on board including two Police personnel from Nkawkaw; Corporal Nathaniel Afriyie Marfo and Corporal Frederick Addai was on Special duties from Nkawkaw to Donkorkrom.
On reaching a section of Kwahu Tafo – Adawso motor road the vehicle veered from its lane into the opposite lane and got involved in a head-on collision with Mercedes Benz bus with registration number GT 724 F driven by a driver yet to be identified.
Occupants of both vehicles sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Kwahu Government. Hospital, Atibie for medical treatment but the deceased persons had to be referred to the police hospital in view of the severity of their injuries.
On reaching the Hospital one corporal Nathaniel Afriyie Marfo together with the GCB Driver Paul Koranteng aged about 43, were pronounced dead on arrival by the Medical Doctor on duty.
Their bodies have since been deposited at the same Hospital morgue awaiting autopsy.
