It has been established that Corporal Raymond Amegashie of the Tema Region SWAT team who was arrested days ago for his alleged involvement in a robbery, was expected to begin his promotional examination today December 15, 2017.

The embattled Cop who is yet to be put before court with three of his accomplices is believed to be the supplier of weapons to the robbery gang which they use in their operations.

It would be recalled that Corporal Raymond Amegashi absconded after conspiring with three others to rob one Madam Hellen Asante of Asante Supermarket near Agric Development Bank at Nungua, a suburb of Accra has been arrested.

He was however arrested at Tsopoli Barrier when he was running away to his hometown in the Volta Region after he managed to escape from the vehicle

The suspect and his accomplices armed with Ak47 assault rifles on board Toyota Corolla taxi cab with registration number GX 9514-13 attacked the victim at her shop and robbed her of cash in the sum of GH¢ 45,000 amidst sporadic firing and bolted with the booty

Police quickly gave the suspects a chase and got them intercepted at Abatoir Police Snap Check Point but one of them who is the policeman managed to escape.

An amount of GH¢19,950, $600 USD and two mobile phones, a pistol with six rounds of ammunition were retrieved from suspects Ibrahim Ayirebo, Bright Dorkanu and Stanley Akorli

Raymond Amegashie, alleged to be a Police Officer at Tema Community 1 Police Station, escaped with an unspecified amount of money and two AK 47 rifles.

Suspects Ibrahim Ayirebo, Bright Dorkanu and Stanley Akorli were immediately taken into Police Custody and exhibit retained.
