Political atmosphere showing signs of victory for NDC - Pele

Tamale, Aug. 7, GNA - Mr Abuga Pele, Member of Parliament (MP) for the Chiana-Paga Constituency, has indicated that the political atmosphere has started showing signs that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will win the December 7, 2008 presidential election. He said: "The NDC's victory signs are "raining" on the roof tops of Ghanaians and eventually the party will be ushered into the seat of government to rule the nation."

Mr Pele, who said this when he addressed the Tamale Polytechnic branch of the Kassena Nankana Students Union (KANASU) in Tamale at the weekend, therefore urged Ghanaians to vote massively to the NDC to make meaning, the glaring "signs".

KANASU organized the forum to enable parliamentary candidates in the constituency to interact with students and to tell them how they could transform education in the area.

Mr Pele said the country needed no fortune teller to inform members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that the race to the presidential palace was over and as such they should begin preparing their handing-over notes before January 7, 2009.

"The wind that blew off the NDC in 2000 and paved the way for the NPP to assume office is now swinging in favour of the NDC", he said, added that the economic hardships on Ghanaians are enormous and unbearable.

Mr Pele said the NDC's slogan: "I care for you" would translate into a real caring for all Ghanaians when the party came to power and stressed the need for students not to listen to politics of lies. He called for unity in the constituency saying, "We came to meet politics and we cannot work on cross-purposes because of politics, while our people are suffering."

He advised the students to examine their lives and vote wisely to ensure that that NPP did not remain in power for three consecutive times.

Me Pele appealed to the students and people in the constituency to vote for him to continue with the development agenda. Mr Abul Aziz Yidana, President of KANASU, commended Mr Pele for stressing on unity and did not attack any individual, an indication that he is a man of peace.

He said there was the need to create a political forum for politicians from different parties to speak on the same platform on unity for the public to appreciate and avoid acts of violence. 7 Aug. 08
