Ho, Jan. 28, GNA - A Pressure Group has been inaugurated in the Volta Region to hold politicians accountable to their promises.
The Ho Municipal Youth Club (HMYC) will also ensure that projects in the region were executed to specification.
Speaking at the Club's maiden interaction with the media in Ho, on Wednesday, Mr Evans Klutse, Public Relations Officer of the group, slammed politicians for often slighting people in the region, by not executing promised projects.
He said the Group would act to stop politicians dangling promises as "carrots" before the people in times of elections and afterwards fail to fulfill them.
Mr Klutse listed the water project planned for Sogakope to Aflao, the Kofi Annan Centre at Akoepe near Ho, the Aflao-Accra highway and an airstrip in Ho, as some of the projects successive governments had used in mesmerizing the people.
He said the people expected governments to do more than they have been doing, to promote all levels of industrialization in the region.
Mr Klutse said the Group expected roads in Ho to be redone to befit its municipal status but regretted that what was going on was an expansion and refurbishment of walkways.
He said the Club is expecting the University, promised by President Mills, to begin operations by the first quarter of the year and also demanded more youth employment programmes.
Mr Klutse also called for a new stadium for Ho.
He hoped the people will "judge and vote according to the extent to which political promises made are fulfilled".
Mr Noble Kofi Yasroku, Vice-Chairman of the HMYC said Group was essentially a non-political one and also neutral.
