Politicians must have the people’s welfare at heart- Apostle

Senior Apostle Anthony Ahenkan, General Overseer of Emmanuel Salvation Church International, has advised politician to put the well-being of Ghanaians over and above their parochial interests.

To this end, he said, politicians must fulfill their campaign promises to the electorate, to help improve their living standards.

Snr Apostle Ahenkan gave the advice when he interacted with newsmen at the church’s premises in Accra, to give his views on some topical national issues.

He advised politicians to desist from using money to influence the electorate to vote against their conscience.

Snr Apostle Ahenkan expressed grave concern about indiscipline among the youth, and said the nation’s future would be bleak if, as future leaders, the younger generation continued to exhibit acts of indiscipline in society.

On bribery and corruption, the General Overseer said it required collective efforts of all and sundry to deal with the social canker, and ensure that it was reduced to the barest minimum if not completely eradicated.

Touching of the National Sanitation Day exercise, Snr Apostle Ahenkan commended the government for initiating the programme, and reminded Ghanaians that they could go about their normal activities only if they were sound in body.

He, therefore, deplored the apathetic attitude of some Ghanaians towards the exercise, and expressed optimism that all hands would have to be on deck, to ensure the success of the sanitation programme.
