Takoradi, April 16, GNA - Political and religious leaders have been reminded that they are "caretakers of God's properties" and would be called to render accounts of their stewardship one day. They have therefore been advised to be careful about their utterances, especially politicians when they mount the political platforms and their general behaviour towards others.
The Most Reverend John Martin Darko, Catholic Bishop of Sekondi-Takoradi was speaking to the Ghana News Agency in Takoradi on Saturday on the need for political and religious leaders to exhibit high sense of maturity and responsibility to sustain the peaceful coexistence among Ghanaians, especially in this election year.
"Politicians both in Government and in opposition should always have the country Ghana at heart, and not their own petty and egoistic gains and they must watch what their mouths utter."
Bishop Darko said it was time for all to do away with all kinds of vices including greed, selfishness and injustices that had for a long time been the cause of human suffering around the world.
He reminded both Christians and politicians that, it was their duty to "make the world a better place than they came to find it and not to make it worse."
Bishop Darko said since Christians form the majority of the population, things must change for the better. 17 April 04
