The General Secretary of the NPP has disclosed that the party would invest significant attention on its polling station elections across the country which are expected to be held later in the year.
This is very crucial in order to enhance the party's chances of winning the elections of 2020 because polling stations form the bedrock of the party, he intimated.
A credible and efficacious polling station structure for the NPP, he said, is, therefore, a non-negotiable necessity in order to guarantee victory for the party in the next elections. To this end, John Boadu stated that the party would embark on a thorough screening of all candidates for the various executive positions at the polling station levels in order to ensure that only hardcore party members who are resident within the catchment area of the respective polling station they wish to serve, go through the process. Again, he added that the party would pump in the necessary resources to enhance the process.
The NPP is expected to begin a nationwide exercise of electing new executives or renewing the mandate of the serving officers across all levels of the party beginning from the polling stations. Details of these internal elections/primaries shall be made known immediately after the party's National Annual Delegates Conference scheduled for August 25 - 27 this year at Cape Coast.
John Boadu was speaking at the Volta Regional Annual Delegates Conference of the party, which was held in Ho, the regional capital on Thursday, July 27. The conference brought onboard all the people that matter in the region including party executives and government appointees to deliberate on all matters affecting the running of the party in the region and also review the year's performance as well as plan ahead.
The NPP's Chief Scribe used the occasion to thank the people of Volta region for voting massively for the party in the last elections, where the party appreciated from its 2012 figure of 12% to 17.56% in 2016, which is the highest in the party's history in the region. He gave them firm assurance that the Volta region would get the needed development and that the government of His Excellency President Akufo-Addo would NOT let them down.
