Poor publicity accounts for low turnout at exhibition centers in Tamale

Poor attendance characterized verification of details at exhibition centers for the Biometric Voters Register in the Tamale Metropolis on Saturday with many people complaining of poor publicity.

Mr. Yidana Adams, Exhibition Officer at the Russia Bungalow Third Road in the Tamale Metropolis, said most people who came to check their details complained of poor publicity in spite of radio announcements on the exercise.

At about 1300 hours when the Ghana News Agency got to the centre, only 20 people out of 927 registered voters had come to check their details with two people identifying anomalies. Their names were wrongly spelt.

Mr. Adams said the exercise would last for ten days ending on September 10th. He entreated people to come and check their details to avoid any embarrassment on voting day on December 7th.

Other polling stations visited included Inter Royals having 986 registered voters; Kalpohin Senior High School, 1,192; and Kalpohin Home Science, 488, all in the Tamale North Constituency.

The turn-out as at 1500 hours were 96 for Inter Royals, 20 for Kalpohin Senior High School and five for Kalpohin Home Science.
