Dormaa-Ahenkro (B/A) Feb. 1, GNA --Poultry Farmers in the Dormaa District of the Brong-Ahafo Region have lauded President John Agyekum Kufuor for nominating Mr. Ernest Akubour Debrah as Minister-designate for Agriculture.
In a statement to the press in Dormaa-Ahenkro, the spokesman for the Poultry Farmers Association and also Managing Director of MM Unity Farm, Mr. Mumuni Musah noted that, Mr. Debrah's nomination was not only timely but would also go a long way to further raise the fortune of the sector, judging from his reach experience in agriculture.
Mr. Musah said the nominee, who had been a recognized farmer before his appointment as minister is now been designated for the right position where his real qualities as a farmer would be put to test. The spokesman cited an instant where as the Regional Minister for Brong-Ahafo Region, Mr. Debrah promptly came to the aid of poultry farmers who had their farms destroyed by a rainstorm; a clear manifestation of his ability to perform if given the choice.
Mr. Musah was also of the view that the nominee, having been in the Banking sector for several years would be in better position to coordinate between the farmers and the various Banks for easy access to loan facilities for the enhancement of their farming activities.
He expressed the Association's unflinching support and cooperation for the minister- designate in the nation's bid to revamp agriculture in general and poultry farming in particular.
The Association expressed the hope that the minister-designate would sailed through the vetting process and get the nod of parliament.
