Agona Swedru, Jan 12, GNA - The Agona District Circuit Missionary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission, Sofo Abdul Majeed Muhammad, has called on Ghanaians to support the government to reduce poverty. He noted that poverty could be eradicated through hard work devoid of bribery and corruption to promote economic development. Addressing Muslims to mark this year's Eid Ul-Adha at Agona Swedru, he recalled the action Abraham in the scriptures to sacrifice his son and urged workers and those holding high office to emulate him in the interest of the nation.
Sofo Muhammad pointed out that the government alone could shoulder the problems confronting the nation and stressed the need for the people to work harder to eradicate poverty, hunger and disease. He stated that "all hands should be on deck" to improve the standard of living, instead accusing the government that "there is no money in the pocket of the people".
Mr Ibrahim Yahaya, Circuit President of the Mission, called on the supporters of the Minority parties to stop accusing the government for the economic hardships facing the country and rather offer suggestions to ensure prosperity. He stated that it was only Ghanaians who could improve the quality of life in the country, saying, "It does not matter if the NPP or the NDC is in power what the people want is freedom and development and nothing else".
