Power Minister Donkor resigns

The Minister of Power Dr Kwabena Donkor has relinquished his post, highly placed government sources have revealed to Starrfmonline.com.

His resignation follows earlier report by Starrfmonline.com that the President John Mahama had given him up to the close of business on December 31, 2015 to pack out or be sacked.

The decision, according to StarrFMonline.com sources within the corridors of power, was triggered by the conflicting reports regarding the supposed end to the power crisis by the Power ministry and the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo).

Reports are rife that he could be replaced by Nii Osah Mills, Kwame Awuah Darko and John Jinapor.

The Power Ministry in a statement Wednesday announced that the power crisis that has bedeviled Ghana for some years now had officially ended, but in a counter statement, head of GRIDCo William Amuna said the erratic power situation is not over.

The power minister in February this year promised to resign from his post if the power crisis is not fixed by the end of the year. He made the promise days after he took over the newly established power ministry following his persistent attack on the Mahama administration over its handling of the crisis.

President Mahama in his state of the nation address in parliament promised to hold him to his promise.
