Power struggle

The Electricity Company of Ghana has decided to change the present 12-hour power cuts to a 24 hour-cycle. This means areas that have had their power cut off for half days would now have a full day power cut. An official of the Electricity Company of Ghana GRi that the four grouping under the exercise has been reduced to two with each enjoying a 24 hour electricity every other day.

These latest developments could have far reaching implications, especially for the cold storage industry, as well as operations like GRi, which is already suffering under the energy crisis hitting the country.

One electricity consumer who is adversely affected by the exercise told GRi in Accra that this is simply a "Power Struggle in Ghana".
