A 15-year-old girl has died following a heavy rainstorm at Jarchie in the Bosomtwe District of the Ashanti Region

The deceased reportedly died after she collapsed when the community experienced a deadly lighting attack during the torrential rainfall

The rainstorm, according to residents, collapsed five houses with over 200 others having their roofs ripped off in the process

The Assembly Member for Jarchie East Electoral Area, Richard Bimpeh(Chikata), in an interview with OTEC News Reporter Jacob Agyenim Boateng, said the incident occurred on Thursday, May 17, 2024.

He noted that hundreds of residents have been displaced after the disaster

He also revealed that properties amounting to thousands of Ghana cedis have been destroyed by the heavy storm

The Assembly Member has called on the National Disaster Management Organization NADMO, cooperated organisations and other state agencies to, as a matter of urgency, support the affected people.
