Pray for peace and development – Bawumia

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, NPP Vice-Presidential Candidate to Nana Akufo-Addo, has urged Ghanaians to continuously pray for the peace and development of the nation since a developed and transformed country will benefit all and uplift the millions suffering.

Dr. Bawumia made the appeal at the Ebenezer Society of the Methodist Church of Ghana in Techiman on Sunday.

The NPP Vice-Presidential candidate, who had earlier visited the Presbyterian Church for their regular Sunday Service, stated: “We are here to ask for your prayers. The Bible states that unless the Lord builds, they labour in vain and so nothing will succeed in this world without the blessing of God and that is why we are here to ask for your prayers and for God’s blessings.”

“We also came to ask so that when you pray, you pray for the peace and stability of the nation, especially before and after the elections and for development and progress for Ghana. So please, when you pray, pray for Nana Akufo-Addo, pray for me and pray for Ghana”, he said.

Speaking on behalf of Dr. Bawumia at the Trinity Congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana earlier, Mustapha Hamid, Spokesperson to Nana Akufo-Addo and a Lecturer in Islamic Studies at the University of Cape Coast (UCC), noted that Islam and Christianity are like twin religions and took time to explain why the two religions should continue to co-exist peacefully in the interest of the nation.

“Our Qu’ran in Qu’ran Chapter 5 verse 82 says that Oh, you Muslims, those who are nearest to you in brotherhood and sisterhood are those who say we are Christians, because amongst them are men and women of learning and amongst them are men and women of understanding and because they are not arrogant.

“The Holy Prophet, Mohammed, also tells us that of all the Prophets of God, I am the nearest to Jesus, the son of Mary. This is in the Holy Book of Islam known as Buhari, Volume 4, Page 433,” he said.

Hamid asked the congregation to pray for the nation and for Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr. Bawumia.

“So we came to seek your prayers and blessings. We came to remind ourselves that we are all one people and so when praying, please pray for Ghana and Nana Akufo-Addo because he is a good man, he is caring and is not selective and pray for all of us. When we are praying, we will also pray for you and the nation. We believe that when we do this, God Almighty will bless Ghana and make Ghana the beautiful country we all dream of”, he noted.
