A 2nd year student of Prempeh College, Master Amanfo S. Richard, has been handed a one-year educational scholarship by the Azumah Nelson Foundation.
The Ghanaian youngster excelled heavily during an interaction session with the iconic boxer in the first of a series of a nationwide tour dubbed ‘Time with the Professor’ being embarked upon by the legendary figure in Ghana.
The three-time WBC Super featherweight champion spent quality time with over 200 students drawn from various schools in the Ashanti Region on his maiden tour, geared towards inspiring the younger generation in Ghana’s second largest city, Kumasi, last week Thursday.
In a thought-provoking ‘Time with the Professor’ at the Kumasi Anglican School, Master Amano Richard was adjudged the best from a pool of four selected students after executing a task in the wake of Azumah’s presentation.
In a classic show of unanimity, the judges selected him as the deserving participant of the award as part of the on-going Youth Empowerment programme by the revered Ghanaian super star.
The event saw over 2000 High School students drawn from selected High Schools in the region. The tour stops in the Eastern region on Thursday 2nd July where over 2000 High School students are expected to gather and learn from the world boxing legend.
Similar events will take place in Accra on Thursday July 9 with schools in the Central Region taking their turn on Friday July 10 at the Aggrey Memorial A.M.E Zion School.
Azumah Nelson rose from obscurity to international fame as a result of determination, focus, character, discipline and mental fortitude amongst other positive traits and these and more are what he intends to share with the young generation.
