Presby University College to establish faculty at Obo

Obo (ER), Nov. 12, GNA - A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between Obo Traditional Council and authorities of Presbyterian University College to establish a computer engineering faculty next academic year at its Obo campus.

The chiefs and people of Obo are constructing a 500,000 Ghana cedis, one storey 12 classroom block, offices and stores for the Presbyterian "A" and "B" Kindergarten Primary and Junior High schools (JHS).

Upon completion of the new structures the pupils and students would vacate their present premises that would be developed into lecture halls, computer library and other offices for the faculty. Osabarima Yeboah Afari Obuagyan II, Obohene disclosed this to Ghana News Agency in an interview at Obo at the weekend. He explained that Obo citizens at home and abroad, organizations and philanthropists would finance the project with material and financial contributions.

The Obohene said adequate accommodation had been acquired for students and lecturers for the take-off of the satellite campus of the University and appealed to the Administrator of Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETfund), Kwahu South District Assembly and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), for the provision of the needed equipment and computers worth 250,000 Ghana cedis towards commencement of the faculty.

Osabarima Obuagyan said education was the only "industry" in the community and advised parents to invest in their children's education to enable them become responsible adults in future. The University was established by the General Assembly of Presbyterian Church of Ghana four years ago as a multi campuses college.
