The moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana has cut the sod for the construction of a 3,000 seater capacity church building for the Presbyterian Worship Center (PWC) at Presbyterian Boys' Secondary School (PRESEC) Legon, Accra.

The project, which is expected to be completed in the next 18months will cost GHc4.5 million.

Rt. Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Martey who cut the sod said the idea to establish a chapel for the PWC at the PRESEC has been on the drawing board for a long time.

“I am very happy to see that final the construction of the church building has began. We will make sure that the building is completed to serve its purpose in the school and the community as a whole,” he said.

Rev. Dr. Godwin Nii Noi Odonkor, Chairman of the Ga Presbytery of The Presbyterian Church of Ghana said the construction of the building at PRESEC campus is to ensure that the spiritual presence of the church is felt in the school.

He said “This school is rooted in Presbyterianism. We want the spiritual presence of the church to be felt in the school and the whole community”.

Rev. Odonkor said PWC is purely English and a modern way in looking at the presbyterian church of Ghana.

“We believe that the church can operate in a modern way as well. The future of the church lies more in the PWC. We are determined to push the church to become big”.

He said the project is going to be jointly funded by the church and PWC, stating “We hope that old students will contribute their quota to ensure that the building is completed on time.”
