A high powered delegation from the Andani family in the Dagbon Traditional Area today (Thursday) left Tamale to meet with President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee House in Accra.

Vo-Naa Alhaji M. B Bawa, Lawyer Ibrahima Mahama and some prominent chiefs from the Andani family as well as the children of the late Yaa-Naa Yakubu Andani II formed part of the delegation.

Convener of the meeting, Salifu Sae-ed in an exclusive interview explained that the delegation went to reaffirm their commitment to perform the final funeral rites of the late Yaa-Naa Yakubu Andani II scheduled for January 4 to 18, 2019.

According to the Northern Regional Minister, the delegation will later meet the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.

As the chief architect of the performance of funerals of the late two Yaa-Naas of Dagbon, Salifu Sae-ed commended Dagombas for their support towards the restoration of absolute peace and genuine reconciliation in the area.

He reiterated government's neutrality in handling the age-long and protracted chieftaincy impasse between the Abudus and the Andanis overtime.

He said government in collaboration with the Eminent Kings mediating the chieftaincy impasse is on course to permanently solve the problem for peace and tranquillity to triumph in Dagbon.

The Regional Security Council (REGSEC) Chairman, Salifu Sae-ed re-echoed the need for the media to be circumspect in their reportage.

Meanwhile, the Abudu Royals have begun the major phase of the late Yaa-Naa Mahamadu Abdulai IV funeral at the Old Gbewaa Palace in Yendi.

Hundreds of people from all walks of life are in Yendi Township to participate in the event.

The funeral is to climax on December 28, 2018, with Quranic recitation.

Asantehene's delegation

A large number of Chiefs from the Manhyia Palace arrived in Tamale on Wednesday, December 26 to participate in the funeral.

They were joined by leaders of the Asante community in Tamale to Yendi.

Escorted by a motorcade, they arrived at the forecourt of the reconstructed Old Gbewaa Palace and displayed their cultural heritage.
