The District Chief Executive of North Gonja, Hon. Illiasu Bawa has commended the President, His Excellency Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo for his resilience in serving the nation, reiterating that, the vigor upon which the President is working across the length and breadth of the country is very encouraging and a source of inspiration and motivation to all MMDCEs across the country.
He said, the President is showing more leadership by touring the country to personally interact with the people after putting in place various social interventions to improve their livelihoods.
The North Gonja DCE who was in a convoy of the President, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo in his three-day working visit to the Northern Region in an interview with the press noted that, the President has demonstrated immensely that he is not an arm-chair President who will sit in Accra and expect things to go through.
“the President is a grass root man who always want to get in touch with the people… he is doing that based on the fact that he wants to deliver the Ghana Beyond Aid that he has promised Ghanaians and he knows that he cannot sit in Accra on his Presidential chair and be able to do that but to go round to have a feel and see for himself what Ghanaians are going through and to address them, that is the resiliency we are talking about, the strength that he has and the kind of vision that he has for this country is immeasurable” He said
The DCE explained that the Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ) project undertaken by the President have touch many lives in his district, emphasizing that, getting fertilizers to the area in time past was hell to farmers in the area, “but now fertilizer is brought to the doorsteps of the people and even subsidized by 50%... I can say for sure that we have distributed fertilizer to over 1500 farmers as we speak now” He said
Speaking on the road network in the district, he DCE disclosed that the famous Daboya Bridge has been captured in the 2018 budget, stressing that, the construction of the bridge will begin by the end of 2018.
He disclosed also that the Busnu road in Daboya, as well as the Daboya-Mankarigu road, is on contract even though contractors have vacated the sites, however, the Roads and Highway Minister Hon Amoako Atta had assured him that the contractors would resume work.
Hon. Illiasu Bawa expressed his happiness about the fact that the President had taken the pain to travel on road with the various sector ministers since it would make him much aware of the poor road networks in the region.
President Nana Akufo Addo's as part of his three-day working visit to the northern region cut sod for the construction of the Nasia- Janga road, the one village one dam Integrated Agriculture with Renewable Energy for Poverty Eradication project in Savelugu and the construction of a district hospital in Tolon. The President again inspects an ongoing construction site for warehouse and Samark Maize farm, a 25,000 acres of farmland in Yamo-Karaga.
