President Akufo-Addo tours Wassa East District

Chiefs and People of Wassa East District put up a colourful memorable Durbar at St Martin’s Anglican Park in Daboase yesterday 23rd July.

The Guest of Honour was the President of Ghana, HE Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Other Govt Officials who came with the President included Hon Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, MP for Takoradi and Regional Minister, Road Minister- Hon Amoako Atta, Hon Joe Ghartey, Hon Dr Kwaku Afriyie, Hon Ato Pamford, Hon Mireku Dukah, Council of State member Mrs Alberta Cudjoe, NPP Party Chairman Freddie Blay and Secretary John Boadu.

Minerals Development Fund was ably represented by a team led by Dr Norris k Hammah, the Administrator.

Nana Kwedukyerefor III, Hemang Traditional Council President who spoke on behalf of the Chiefs and People of Wassa East expressed gratitude to the President for sharing time with his people.

He commended the innovations introduced in the cocoa sector and the impact Free SHS Policy is having on Wassa East youth development and requested for two new Schools to be planted at Atobiase and Ateiku cater for the thousands of our children.

A bridge over River Pra between Sekyere Didiso and Sekyere Oboase and Cocoa Road Projects continuation to cover Ateiku, Atobiase to Amponsaso, Hemang to Edwenase and Atobiase to Sekyere Nsuta were highlighted as critical infrastructural projects that would open up the development of Wassa East.




Before the Presidents message, Hon Amoako Atta Response to the Traditional Leaders of Wassa East request with firm assurance that all the necessary technical data have been collected and engineering works completed to put 120m bridge on river Pra to line Didiso to Oboase, and all the roads mentioned have been captured by new cocoa roads project scheduled to start in few weeks time.

President Nana Akufo-Addo said he was happy to be with the people of Wassa East and duly noted the requests put before him.

He said he was happy with assurances made by the Road Minister and emphasized the need to support NPP administration that evidently is transforming the fortunes of Farmers with innovative Policies like Planting for Food and Jobs, Rearing for Food and Jobs, Planting for Export and Rural Development which one thousand Farmers will be benefitting from free high yielding supply in Wassa East for 2019.

MDF official joined the President, Regional Minister and Hon DCE Wilson Arthur to hand over the Palm Oil Seedlings to some of the Farmers.
