President Akufo-Addo will make Woyome vomit - Tema MCE

President Akufo-Addo President Akufo-Addo

The Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive, Felix Mensah Nii Annang-La, has promised Ghanaians that the legal antics of Alfred Agbesi Woyome, cut short by President Akufo-Addo is the beginning of justice that he will be made to render to Ghanaians.

“His Excellency will make Woyome pay every last dime of the State’s money that he used sophistry to take from this country,” Nii Annang-La promised in an interview with journalists on the sidelines of a tour of limited voters registration centres.

He said already, the government was auctioning the embattled businessman’s property in order to defray the undeserved judgment debt he received, “and nothing will stop that process,” the MCE said.

Nii Annang-La made an incursion into the subject of Woyome, which is the most trending now after one media practitioner queried how long it would take his government to retrieve the money paid to Woyome now that all of Woyome’s legal cards were played.

As the Tema MCE pointed out that the process to retrieve the money was already started, he also said Woyome’s legal antics were nothing but jumps to nowhere. The embattled businessman’s last ditch effort to avoid paying back the GHC 51million that was paid him in 2009 came crumbling last week, when the African court for Human and Peoples Rights dismissed his case alleging that the State had abused his rights.

Woyome, who claimed that he deserved the money because he was entitled to some four per cent cut on money that he raised through financial engineering for Waterville Holdings BVI, an international company, to build stadia for CAN 2008, had earlier sued the government at the international court and lost as well.

“…oh yes, it was a long dance, but no matter how high a frog jumps, it will land on the earth again. Now the antics are over and I can assure you that President Akufo-Addo will squeeze every last dime out of him,” the Tema MCE said.

He however said the State could not squeeze any interests on top of the GHC 51million paid Woyome because his bank accounts were frozen and he had not earned any interest on the money.

Meanwhile Nii Annang-La’s tour around the limited voter registration centres was a smooth one.

The hands-on MCE toured all the centres in his jurisdiction to give moral support to the process.

Earlier, on 1st July, he was the keynote personality at the Senior Citizens Day commemoration hosted by the Tema branch of COCOBOD.

He was tasked with the duty of awarding and decorating senior citizens, which he discharged with charm.

Nii Felix Mensah Annang-La thanked the elated oldies and grannies for their trail-blazing contribution to the development of the country and said their examples were the source of inspiration for younger people like himself.
