Before going into the closed door session with his colleagues Heads of State at the on-going 38th Ordinary Session of the Authority of ECOWAS Heads of State in Sal, Cape Verde, His Excellency President John Evans Atta Mills spent some time motivating the Black Stars ahead of their crucial quarterfinal match against Uruguay.
Speaking to the Black Stars during the technical meeting of the Team, President Atta Mills assured them of the fullest support of Ghana.
According to President Atta Mills, the whole nation is supporting them with prayers and they should go into the match knowing that they are worthy ambassadors of Ghana and Africa.
“I am in Cape Verde for an ECOWAS summit and I can assure that my colleague Heads of State are looking up to you to continue to sell the image of Africa” President Atta Mills said.
“Just as you did in the match against the United States, take your chances and shoot accurately and there is no way you will not win” President Atta Mills added.
“It is also important that you are tactically and technically disciplined so you don’t attract any unnecessary cards” the President advised.
President Atta Mills also assured the players that as the Government continues to make good its promises to them, they can rest assured that once victory comes, they will be handsomely compensated.
“Win for Ghana and we will do what we have to do as a nation to thank you for bringing pride and honour to Ghana” President Atta Mills said.
Before going off the line, President Atta Mills prayed for the Team and asked the Almighty to once again show Himself strong and pour his blessings on the Black Stars for the Team to shine and keep the spirit of Africa alive in the World Cup.
On their part, GFA boss, Kwesi Nyantekyi and skipper Stephen Appiah thanked the President for his continued show of personal support for the Black Stars and pledged to go into battle knowing that the Father of the nation is supporting them with his body, soul and spirit.
His Excellency President Atta Mills has been receiving messages of congratulations from his colleagues Heads of State for the sterling performance of the Black Stars as they continue to make Africa proud.
