Abakrampa, Aug. 13, GNA- President John Agyekum Kufuor on Friday reiterated his warning to re-award contracts of road contractors who delay the completion of their projects.
He, has, consequently requested the Central Regional Co-ordinating Council to investigate the delay in the completion of the rehabilitation of the Abura-Dunkwa town roads, and if possible re-award the contract to a more competent contractor.
President Kufuor gave the directive when addressing a durbar of the chiefs and people of the Abura Asebu-Kwamankese District at Abakrampa, as part of his tour of Central Regional.
He gave the assurance that the Aburaman Senior Secondary School built through the initiative of a citizen of the area in 1972 would be upgraded into a model educational institution.
Okatakyi Dr Amanfi VII, Omanhene of Asenbu Traditional Area appealed to the government to rehabilitate the Nyamedom-Afrangaa junction-Abura Denkwa-Gyagankrom-Ayeldu Nyankumasi roads. He also called on government to support the Asuansi Technical School and the starch factory built under the rural enterprises development project.
Okatakyi Amenfi said the rehabilitation of the Abura-Dunkwa town roads awarded on contract in 2003 had still not been completed and appealed to the government to ensue that works on the roads were completed on schedule.
President Kufuor later paid a familiasation tour of the Coastal Grove Company Limited at Abakrampa that processes organic fruit for export.
Mr Daniel Danquah, Managing Director of the company, conducted the President round the company.
President Kufuor said he was impressed by the operations of the company and asked the management to collaborate with the Ministry of Private Sector Development and the Presidential Special Initiatives to increase production and create more jobs for the youth in the area. The company that began production in November last year, could produce 7,000 litres of fruit juice from organically produced fruits a day and it had employed about 1,500 workers.
