President John Mahama will later Friday commission the Bui hydro power project.
Government officials say this will augment energy supply in the country.
The project will generate a total amount of 404 megawatts (MG) of power.
Though, it has four units – three of which are expected to produce 133 MW of power - only one is ready for commissioning.
The $800 million project started in April 2008 and is being financed by the governments of Ghana (10%) and China (90%).
So far, $700 million has been spent on the project.
Mr Liu Aisheng, Country Representative of Sinohydro Corporation - contractors of the project - told the Daily Graphic other units would be ready by November this year.
