President Mahama in Kumasi; will visit Manhyia Palace ahead of congress

President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in the Ashanti Region ahead of the National Democratic Congress' Special Delegates Congress. He is also expected to continue with his Thank You Tour in the region

This will be the ninth region where the President has visited with his nationwide tour.

The President who was in Bolgatanga, Bawku and West Mamprusi on Tuesday touched down in Kumasi at about 11:30AM on Wednesday. President Mahama has already visited Volta, Western, Central, Eastern, Upper East, Upper West, Brong Ahafo and Northern Regions. He is yet to tour the Greater Accra Region.

According to XYZ News’ reporter, Kwame Danso Acheampong who is travelling with the president, President Mahama was given a rousing welcome by an enthusiastic crowd at the airport.

President Mahama is expected to visit the Manhyia Palace later today to pay his respects to the Asantehene Otunfuo Osei Tutu II as custom demands.

He will later tour some parts of the region ahead of the Special Delegates Congress, which begins on Thursday at the Baba Yara sports Stadium. He is expected to be endorsed as the flagbearer of the party ahead of the December polls.

President Mahama presented his nomination forms through his Communications Minister, Haruna Iddrisu on Tuesday.
