President John Mahama on Monday received former German President Horst Kohler who is in Ghana to participate in an African- Europe Entrepreneurship Dialogue Series.
The Series is aimed at harnessing job creation and forging a link between Europe and African countries.
President Mahama used the opportunity to indicate that his administration is working to make it easier for Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) to access credit. This he said will be done through partnership with the private sector.
He also indicated that there is a new focus on technical and vocational education intended to train more middle-level human resource needed by employers and also position graduates to create jobs for themselves. The production of artisans will also reduce the over-reliance on the government sector.
President Mahama said the partnership meeting taking place in Accra is timely and critical considering the fact that Ghana is carrying out educational reforms that will now turn-out graduates faster than before.
Former President Koehler said Ghana has the potential to become self-reliant in the near future and that is the reason why he was in the country with his team to leverage those potentials to an international level.
He said the meeting will concentrate on job creation for the youth as that is paramount for every developing country to achieve its development goals.
