President John Dramani Mahama has appointed an eight-member committee to oversee the National Education Forum, which will review the educational sector.
The committee will be chaired by the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, Professor George K.T. Oduro.
He will be joined by other esteemed academicians, including Professor Rosemary Bosu, Samuel Awuku, PhD, Professor Smile Dzisi, Kofi Asare, Stephen Owusu, and Inusah Shiraz.
In a statement released by the Acting Spokesperson of the President, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, on February 2, 2024, the committee’s duty will be to devise a plan for the engagement, identify key stakeholders such as students, lecturers, religious leaders, and others.
The committee will also set a date for the National Education Forum in the next two weeks, document their findings, and make policy recommendations to be submitted to the government for consideration.
As part of their responsibilities, they will draft the national education policy framework and action plan after engaging with stakeholders, to be considered for implementation.
This move fulfills President Mahama’s plan to revamp the education sector and address its challenges.
