President Mills donates to Kissi Primary School

Kissi (C/R), June 19, GNA - Kissi in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem Municipality, came to a standstill at the weekend when jubilant residents gave President John Evans Atta Mills and his two brothers- Cadmen and Samuel, a tumultuous welcome to the town.

The enthusiastic residents both young and old lined up the streets to welcome President Mills entourage to the local MA Primary School. The unofficial visit was in response to a request made by the Headmaster of the School, Mr Ebenezer Eduabeh to President Mills to release his family house to solve the accommodation problems of the teachers. He also asked the government to construct a drain to save the school from persistent floods that had destroyed books, stationery and other educational materials.

President Mills and his siblings spent their formative years in the town where their late father was a teacher. The siblings of the President attended the School. The President handed over the building, which is currently under construction to the authorities and donated 16 laptop computers to facilitate Information, Communications and Technology as well as two sets o= f jersey and 10 footballs to the School.

He also donated GH¢10,000 to the school to support the education of needy and deprived children in the town. In a brief remark, President Mills said it was the responsibility of the present generation to assist the younger ones with the needed support t= o secure them a bright future. He spoke against the rate of verbal attacks and insults in Ghana, particularly by the youth and said it was not part of the Ghanaian culture. President Mills therefore asked the people to desist from the defiant behaviour and resort to peaceful co-existence as 93we are one people". The Queen of the town, Nana Efua Bedu II, expressed gratitude to the President for the visit and appealed to him to ensure the provision of electricity, kindergarten block and a library for the school.
