Abuja (Nigeria), June 19, GNA - President John Evans Atta Mills on Friday arrived in Abuja, Nigeria, ahead of an ECOWAS summit on Monday, to hold talks with Nigerian leader Umaru Musa Yar'Adua, on the supply of gas and petrol to Ghana.
The talks are expected to lead to renewed terms under which Nigeria could resume the supply of petrol and gas to Ghana, officials told the Ghana News Agency.
Nigeria has been a long time ally of Ghana and has in the past supplied petroleum to the country under a 60-90 day credit. The Ghanaian delegation is hopeful the talks would yield positive results for immediate supply of gas to Ghana. Stakeholders in Ghana's energy sector have called for action to be expedited on the gas supply arrangement through a West African Gas Pipeline project which was completed last year to facilitate cheaper cost of gas from Nigeria to Togo, Benin and Ghana.
