Accra, Sept.9, GNA - Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo arrived in Accra on Thursday to participate in the one-day National Prayer Breakfast meeting scheduled for the Banquet Hall of the State House on Friday September 10.
He was met at the gangway by President John Agyekum Kufuor, who was accompanied by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Minister of Foreign Minister and General Joshua Hamidu, Ghana's High Commissioner in Nigeria. Other Heads of State and Government expected to participate in the meeting are President Mathieu Kerekou of Benin and Ivorian President Laurent Gbagbo.
Reverend Kwabena Darko, Chief Executive Officer of Darko Farms and Co-ordinator of the meeting told journalists that President Obasanjo, a devoted Christian would be the main speaker and share his testimony in the Lord.
He said, "if a nation does not know the Lord, it will always go 'wayward' and that it takes God alone to bring about wisdom, direction and prosperity".
Rev. Darko said the nations of West Africa needed the direction of the Lord to bring about peace and stability.
The meeting is expected to be attended by Cabinet Ministers, representatives of the Political parties, Parliamentarians, the business community and leaders of various organisations.
It is part of a continental initiative to organise annual National Prayer Breakfasts in at least 30 African countries by the year 2021.
