President of the Local Government Service Engineer Association, Engr. Richard Ben Debrah has been adjudged Ghana's Most Outstanding Industry Leadership Award- Engineer for his remarkable impact in the engineering sector of the local government service at the just-ended 7th edition of the Ghana Business Awards, 2024.

The tremendous recognition underscores his exceptional leadership qualities and distinctive dedication to providing quality engineering works and also for being an extremely respected personality advocating for best business practices in the sector.

The trophy also reflects his unwavering focus on meeting and exceeding customer expectations while adhering to rigorous quality standards over the years.

The iconic ceremony was held at the Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel in Accra on the theme; Business Unity for Climate Impact: Innovating for a Sustainable Future".

The annual scheme is organised by Globe Productions with support from the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture seeks to identify, honour and celebrate individuals and companies that plays a significant role in the growth and development of their business sector while recognising the key functions within the sector that promotes growth and sustainability.

The award scheme is also a benchmark of excellence for companies' performance despite the recurring challenges.

Speaking to the media after winning, Engr. Richard Ben Debrah said he is committed to always creating an "Excellent Experience " through warm hospitality, open communication, and world-class care that resonates with clients and industry peers alike.

According to him, the trophy is a testament to greatness and a motivation to work harder always while setting benchmarks for others to follow.

" This is not just a trophy but a great motivation for greatness ahead. After striving for about two decades of service to God and Country, I feel deeply honoured by this milestone. I dedicate this award to members of the Local Government Service Engineering Association and most importantly, our cherished customers and partners across the globe", he said.

BRIEF PROFILE OF ENGR. RICHARD BEN DEBRAH

Engr. Richard Ben Debrah is a visionary leader with over 20 years of experience in Ghana's Local Government Service. Born in Agona Nyakrom in Central Region of Ghana, he is the current President of the Local Government Service Engineers Association, where he oversees over 1,500 engineers/architects/quantity surveyos/Technical officers in the Service.

With his outstanding leadership, Engr. Debrah has driven impactful collaborations and partnerships that have significantly benefited the built environment and profession.

His educational background includes an MSc in project Management from KNUST and a BSC in Construction Management. His leadership has brought unity among Engineers, enhancing their involvement in key aspects of urban development and infrastructure projects. Also, under his stewardship, numerous partnership have flourished, achieving remarkable results including;

Partnership with Chartered Institute of Realtors: Facilitated training for 100 members on land use, zoning, and development projects held at the African Trade House.

Flood Resolution and Housing Deficit Initiative; Collaborated to secure accreditation for 100 engineers to attend a major conference at the international conference centre, focused on resolving flooding issues and reducing housing deficits in Ghana.

Also, collaboration with IET- Gh and Reaco International: Over 700 Engineers are benefiting from ongoing professional development and training in engineering best practices.

Institute of Project Management Professional (IPMP): Through this partnership, 800 Engineers receiving training in project management with a 30% membership fee reduction, enhancing their expertise and projects execution skills.
Collaborating with the Engineering Council, Ghana and attended CEOs breakfast meeting to discuss the enforcement of the engineering regulations and best practices to sanitise the build environment industry for community.
