The appointment of Mr. Kobina Fosu as Minister of State has been revoked. An official statement from the ministry of communications said the decision of the President is in keeping with the principle of accountability. While the committee, which investigated the Keta Sea Defence project, did not establish any impropriety on the part of Mr. Fosu, the report held that as the then sector Minister, he ought to take responsibility for the lapses. Accordingly, Mr. Fosu was first given the option to tender in his resignation after the publication of the report last week. However, on account of his failure to do so, the President has revoked his appointment. The statement said meanwhile, the Ministry of Works and Housing has ordered further investigations into allegations made against Squadron Leader Clend M. K. Sowu (rtd) by some of the companies involved in the Keta Sea Defence project. The Ministry has also expressed its appreciation to members of the Keta Sea Defence Wall Oversight Committee which included Mr. Dan Abodakpi, MP for Keta for their vigilance which prompted the setting up of the Committee of Enquiry by the Ministry, the statement signed by Mr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, Communications Minister, added.
