President's action on Sports Minister cosmetic

Ex-Deputy Attorney General, Kwame Osei Prempeh has described as cosmetic actions taken by President John Mills on the alleged misappropriation of funds by the Youth and Sports Minister.

President Mills has asked Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak to proceed on leave pending investigations into the allegations of corruption and abuse of office leveled against him by the chief accountant at the Sports Ministry, Adim Odoom.

National security are investigating the allegations and this, the Nsuta Kwaman MP, Osei Prempeh, maintains is not acceptable.

He told Citi News on Tuesday the National Security has been politicized unduly, fearing the impending investigations will cover up any wrong doing by the beleaguered minister.

"We already have the National Security Coordinator always making political statements," he chided.

He challenged the president to refer the case to the Police Criminal Investigative Department who he said are professionals and qualified to conduct the investigations.

He said comments by officials of National Security to the media have already sought to exonerate the minister even before investigations are to be concluded.

Referring to the alleged payment of GH¢10,000 to the minister as refund for cost incurred on landing charges during the CHAN tournament in the Ivory Coast, Osei Prempeh insisted there is enough grounds for the prosecution of the minister.
