President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Wednesday swore into office, the Board Chairman of the State Interest and Governance Authority (SIGA), Mr Terence Darko.

At a ceremony at the Jubilee House in Accra, the President urged Mr Darko to leverage his wealth of experience in the private sector to transform the Governance of State-Owned Enterprises (SOE's) to enable them play a productive role in the development of the country.

The President swore in the Board of the SIGA last September, with a strict instruction to uphold the practice of good corperate and accountable governance in SOE's.

The President told Mr Darko that high standards were expected of the board, and expressed optimism that the body would be able to make a positive impact on the growth of the national economy.

"I am hopeful that together with the other members of the Board and the management of SIGA, you will help infuse best private sector practices in the management of our country's public enterprises to make them productive.

"It is my expectation and indeed that of every Ghanaian to see that SIGA works in tandem with the respective sector agencies and their boards to assist in moving our country to the path of progress and prosperity" the President said.

Mr Darko was grateful for the opportunity given him to serve Ghana and pledged to redeem the confidence reposed in him and the board.
