President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has sworn in Mrs Akua Sakyiwaa Ahenkorah, a career diplomat, as Ghana's new ambassador to Malaysia.

At a short ceremony at the Flagstaff in Accra on Wednesday, the President Akufo-Addo congratulated the envoy on her "well-deserved appointment".

"Your appointment is a summit you have reached deservingly ", he said, recalling her many years of hard, selfless, dedicated and professional service at the Foreign Affairs Ministry.

The President exhorted Mrs Ahenkorah to do everything possible to guard and uphold the image of Ghana, which was high in the comity of nations.

He tasked her to develop, deepen and intensify the economic, social and political ties between Ghana and Malaysia for the benefits of the people of the two nations.

President Akufo-Addo further urged Mrs Ahenkorah, who is the first female Ghanaian envoy to be appointed to Malaysia, to comport herself and cooperate well with Foreign Service officials at her new post to ensure the success of her tenure.

"I am confident that you would discharge yourself creditably", the President added.

Mrs Ahenkorah was grateful to the President for the confidence reposed in her, and assured of her loyalty in the discharge of her duties.

She promised to safeguard, protect and promote the image and interest of Ghana and work to strengthen the already cordial relations between Ghana and Malaysia.
