Presidential Press elects new executives

The Presidential Press Corps has elected new executives to steer the affairs of the group for the next two years.

The holding of the elections became necessary following the expiry of the two-year term of the former executives on February 14, 2015.

In all five positions were contested for; the Dean of the Press Corps, Vice Dean of the Press Corps, the Secretary, the Treasure and the Organizer.

Mr Bibini Nutor of Ghana Television (GTV), who was the only contestant for the Dean position, received all the votes from the 21 persons who participated in the elections.

Mr Seth Ahia of GBC Radio, who also contested unopposed for the Vice Dean position polled 19 votes out of the 21 ballots cast to maintain his former post.

Mr Edmond Kwabi of TV3 Network polled 13 votes to beat Mr Edmond Mingle of the Ghanaian Times, who had eight votes for the Secretary position.

Ms Pascaline Adadevor of GBC Radio, who contested unchallenged, maintained her post as the Treasurer of the group with 21 votes whilst Mr William Sarpong of the Daily Democratic Newspaper also maintained his position as the Organizer of the Press Corps.

Mr Bibini Nutor of GTV, the new Dean of the Presidential Press Corps in an acceptance speech thanked the government for giving members of the Press Corps the opportunity to serve the administration.

He said the performance of the new executives would depend on the support of members and friends.

Mr Bibini Nutor further urged members to support the new executives in all their endeavours, adding that, they would not let the Press Corps down; especially for the confidence they had reposed in them.
