The Executive and members of the National Democratic Congress (UK & Ireland) Branch on 2nd July 2006 held an inspirational church service in London to commemorate Ghana’s 46th Republic Day anniversary. The service was attended by the NDC Executive and members, sympathisers and a huge number of Ghanaians living in London.

The church service was led by Dr Lawrence Akwetey and prayers were said for the leaders, past and present, of the country. Delivering the sermon, The Rev. Emmanuel Nkosi, a Rwandan national, urged all Ghanaians to forget the past and forge towards the future to enhance economic development for the country. He urged Ghanaians in high offices in the country to eschew corruption and make it possible for every Ghanaian to partake in an equitable distribution of the national cake. He paid glowing tributes to the founding fathers of the nation, including the first President of the Republic, Dr Kwame Nkrumah.

In his address, the Chairman of the NDC UK & Ireland Branch, Mr Alex Segbefia, thanked the huge number of Ghanaians and sympathisers who attended the church service to pray for mother Ghana.
