NYONYO RESURFACES, ANLO YOUTH COUNCIL REACTS

The Anlo Youth Council wishes to condemn in clear terms the continuous referral to Seth Lumor Atitsogbui, aka Nyonyo Agboada as Torgbui Sri III by sections of the media. This is very regrettable given that the Anlo Youth and other well-meaning Anlos have explained ad nauseam the issue of his ineligibility to the Awoamezi.

We find it quite distasteful that Radio Gold in spite of well founded objection to these attempts by some news organizations to provide credibility to Seth Lumor Atitsogbui, aka Nyonyo Agboada as Torgbui Sri III, went ahead not just to grant him the airwaves to speak his mind but to address him publicly as Torgbui Sri.

Since the unfortunate events of November last year and resistance of Anlos, the name Nyonyo Agboada also referred to variously as Seth Lumorvi Atitsogbui, Francis Nyonyo Agboada and many other aliases has been correctly expunged from the register of chiefs of Anlo and much more so, as Awoamefia.

Again, there is a restraining order from an Accra Fast Track High Court, effected by substitution, through the print and electronic media stopping the parties involved in the installation of Awoamefia from proceeding any further (Saturday, November 3, 2007 edition of the Daily Graphic). This was followed with an offer by the said Lumorvi Atitsogbui, to abdicate his ambition on the altar of peace, as carried in the same paper (front-page story of Wednesday, November 14, 2007). The generality of Anlos are aware of the factionalism that exists within the ranks of the Adzovia Clan whose turn it is to select a candidate for enstoolment as Awoamefia. Seth Lumor Atitsogbui and his able lieutenant Napoleon Agboada have capitalized on this to hijack the Adzovia Clan, and together they have usurped the relevant processes for selection and enstoolment of an Awoamefia, thus creating a crisis for the whole of Anlo.

It is not for nothing that there is complete unanimity among Anlos, no matter their side of the political divide, as to the way out of this quagmire. That way out obviously does not include Nyonyo Atitsogbui as Awoamefia and he knows this.

We seize this forum to call on the Leadership and entire membership of the Adzovia Clan to organize by ejecting the usurping and renegade elements among them to have a proper selection process to provide Anlo with an unblemished personality fit for enstoolment as Awoamefia.

Again, we reiterate that the struggle to rid ourselves of emerging oppression and tyranny did not start today and we wish to take this opportunity to inform all concerned that the struggle continues and will never end until things are properly in place. .

Signed for Anlo Youth Council

Kodzo Chapman (Acting Secretary).
