Prez Mahama leaves for UN meetings

President John Mahama left Accra Saturday night to New York, USA, to attend the 68th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Mr. Mahama will on Thursday September 26, 2013 address the General Assembly. The address will be live on Ghana Television, Radio Ghana and www.presidency.gov.gh.

Ahead of the General Debate, which starts on September 24, Mr. Mahama will take part in a number of side events including a session being hosted by the former British Premier Tony Blair and the World Bank President on 'getting things done'. The president will also be a lead discussant at a forum on private investment in Africa.

During his stay in New York, President Mahama will also deliver two public lectures at the Columbia and New York Universities.

Accompanying the President is his wife, Mrs. Lordina Mahama who will also be attending a number of meetings for first ladies including an Organisation of African First Ladies Summit on Autism and another on Cervical Cancer.

In the absence of the President, Vice President Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur will act as President.
