The Communication Director of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has lauded government’s attempt to privatize the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), saying it is the only way to ensure efficiency in the state organization.

Speaking on Atinka FM AM Drive hosted by Kwame Adinkra Thursday, the NDC communicator said the state organization is being run down by some persons who are only interested in making money at the expense of the innocent consumer .

He, therefore, lauded the government and President Mahama for initiating moves to privatize ECG and said such a move will increase efficiency within the organization. Nkansah argued that the current crisis in relation the controversial billing system has been triggered by the selfish interests of some officials adding that such greedy persons will be exposed immediately the company is privatized .

“Previously, a monthly bill for a two or three –bedroom house was around GHC400, but these days they charge over GHC1000 for the same household. This is ridiculous! This is why the government has decided to privatize ECG to ensure accountability and above all efficiency,”

Solomon Nkansah claimed that there are some people within the ECG who make so much money at the expense of ordinary Ghanaians and must stop.
